Karachi: National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in collaboration with State Life launches Accidental Death Insurance that offers monetary cover to every new Smart National Identity Card (SNIC) holder for first two years across the country including Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan) and AJK.
Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik and Aziz Siddiqui the chairman State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan signed an agreement on Wednesday here at NADRA headquarter.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik said NADRA has issued over 92.8 million identity cards to adult population of Pakistan over the age of 18 years, being the custodian of national identification in Pakistan, NADRA envisaged an Accidental Death Insurance program which will help government to promote socio economic culture and reaching out to the poorest of the poor.
He said “Accidental Death Insurance through SNIC is the scheme to register the applicants for death insurance. The holder of SNIC will automatically be registered for the accidental death insurance of Rupees One Hundred Thousand (100,000) for the period of first two years. The applicant can nominate their nominee, at the registration of SNIC, who will collect the insurance amount.”
Tariq Malik said upon accidental death of any SNIC holder, the said benefit derived from the scheme would be paid by State Life to NADRA for onward submission to a person nominated by card holder. With minimum premium that NADRA pays to State Life on behalf of the citizens shall create Snow-Ball-Effect for the company on one side and as security for citizen on the other, he added.
Chairman NADRA said SNIC has allowed the government to reach out to the citizens of Pakistan with this state of the art technology and modern biometric facilities which was previously not possible. One of the major benefits of this technology, which is fast becoming the authentication standard around the globe, is its ability to store data within a microchip and the robustness to include both public and private sector services, now, the SNIC also comes with the provision of accidental death insurance.
The spokesperson in a press statement added that in the event of accidental death of a SNIC holder, his/her nominee will approach NADRA for lodging/reporting the rightful claim under the Scheme with State Life within Two Years (2 years) of the Accidental Death to the designated office of State Life for the claim forms completion and necessary documentation.
She said State Life would ensure prompt processing of claims within thirty working days of receipt of the complete documents in all respects by the designated G&P Zone of State Life.
