Islamabad: Mr. Sajjad Kamran, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Sweden visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to discuss bilateral relation between Pakistan and Sweden before his departure.
The Ambassador said that he would ensure to pass on information to Pakistani business community regarding trade opportunities available in Sweden so they could take benefit and enhance trade ties with Sweden.
He also emphasized to explore new avenue of cooperation in the areas of trade and economy. Mr. Sajjad Kamran said that overseas Pakistanis need to get united because with unity we could achieve socio-economic targets to ensure national prosperity.
Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI, while congratulating Mr. Sajjad Kamran, said that his posting as Ambassador of Pakistan to Sweden would usher in a new era of cooperation between the two countries.
He said that Sweden as a developed Scandinavian country and a member state of European Union, Pakistan and Sweden have huge potential to work together in the sectors of agriculture, mining, tourism, education, infrastructure building and alternative energy solutions.
Mr.Bakhtawari termed the termed the annual bilateral trade between Sweden and Pakistan was very low and it was diminishing instead of increasing, therefore, he underlined the need to further improve it by increasing the number of counsellors in each other’s countries.
ICCI President said that commercial Offices and Pakistani embassies abroad should send market study reports to Chambers regularly which would help exporters to know market potential of their exports around the globe.
He also suggested Ambassador to visit Swedish companies’ i.e. Ikea, H&M and Lindex which could become strong trading partner with Pakistan.
He also emphasized upon the need to improve the soft image of Pakistan with focus to further strengthening bilateral relations of Pakistan and Sweden especially in the field of economy, trade and investment.
