Islamabad: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has observed that as we commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Shahadat of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, we are reminded of her heroic struggle for the restoration of democracy and rights of the people.
”Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto took over the mantle of leadership from her late father former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. She remained committed to carry on the mission of her late father who envisioned a truly democratic and Islamic welfare state”, the PM said in his message on the occasion of her 5th death anniversary.
He said ”In her mission she was guided by democratic principles and the greater good of the common man. It was due to her untiring struggle that she was able to unite the people and pave the way for a smooth transition from dictatorship to democracy.
Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed envisaged a Pakistan which was a democratic, plural and egalitarian society and free from all sorts of exploitation.
The best way to pay homage to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would be to shun prejudices and maintain unity in our ranks. Let us resolve to defeat the forces of extremism and terrorism and work for the progress and prosperity of the country.
