SIBI: Livestock Department was mobilizing all resources for making up losses of livestock owners in flood hit areas of Sibi, Bakhtiarabad, Lehri, Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad, Sohbatpur, Jaffarabad and other areas. Providing relief to them all possible measures were being made to extend help to them.
This was stated by Secretary Livestock Naseem Lehri while speaking to PPI during his visit to flood hit areas.
He was flanked by officers of Livestock Department from Sibi, Tulli, Bakhtiarabad, Lehri, Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad, Sohbatpur, Jaffarabad and Nasirabad while livestock owners were also present.
Naseem Lehri said purpose of his visit is to resolve difficulties of livestock owners and step taken by the department could also be reviewed.
He said on the directives of Chief Secretary efforts are being made to supply relief and ration among deserving livestock owners in affected areas. He said 2012 floods have caused irreparable loss to livestock sector. Due to deaths of hundreds of thousands of animals, livestock owners, government and department had to face losses. Despite limited resources, department extended help and took steps for the treatment of animals. The spirit with which they have faced natural calamity in flood hit areas is praised worthy.
Secretary Livestock said livestock sector has important status in Balochistan. Seventy percent of population is associated with it. Department was discharging its responsibility to raise standard of living of local livestock owners and usefulness of the department.
He said department has started preparations for Sibi Mela. In this mela market of animals of international level encourages livestock owners.
Earlier Divisional Director Sibi and focal person Dr Jamal Ahmed Marri briefed in detail about steps taken by livestock department in flood hit areas. He said more than 600, 000 animals have been vaccinated against different diseases in flood hit areas free of cost.
