Karachi: The Sindh High Court SHC on Tuesday restrained secretary special education department from making fresh appointments in the department of Special Education Sindh till further orders.
Headed by Justice Faisal Arab, the division bench of SHC was seized with the petition filed by 47 petitioners, including disabled persons, who moved court against the illegal appointments in the special education department allegedly by the secretary of the department.
The petitioners, Sajid Hussain, Waseem Raza and 45 others submitted through their counsel that they had applied for the posts in the special education department on contract basis for different scales following the advertisement published in various newspapers on September 11, 2012.
They submitted that a committee was also constituted by secretary special education department to ensure transparency in the entire process of recruitment. The petitioners said that they had cleared the test and interviews but they were issued offer letters by the department, while some people who did not appear in the test and interviews have been appointed and considered for the required posts.
They alleged that secretary special education department has appointed his blue eyed boys while ignoring the relevant rules and regulations. They prayed to the court to direct respondents to issue them offer and appointment letters and cancel the illegal appointments.
They cited secretary special education department, section officer special education and accountant general of Sindh as respondents.
Earlier, the court had directed the respondents to file comments regarding the matter. Meanwhile, Nafees Ahmed Usmani, additional advocate general sought time to file comments.
The court ruled, “In meanwhile, no fresh such appointments shall be made till the next date of hearing”. The hearing of case was put off till March 6, 2013.
