Sindh Food Department increases wheat quota of mills to bring down flour prices

Karachi: Sindh Food Department has taken measures to provide wheat flour to the citizens at the rate of Rs.32/ per kilogram, a spokesman of the department said on Sunday.

Spokesman said the food department, following the instructions of minister Nadir Magsi, has decided to increase the wheat quota of flour mills from 300 bangs to 500 per mill per month as per daily requirement and the grinding capacity, to stabilize the flour prices in the province.

It may be mentioned that flour prices have shot up recently to Rs.40/ per kilogram.

The number of flour mills in Karachi is above 100 while there are over 3000 small grinding units Chakkis. The equal quota of wheat is supplied to flour mills operating in Karachi and rest of Sindh.
