Rawalpindi: The Regional Head Office of National Database and Registration Authority NADRA organized a seminar on ‘Promotion of Civil Registration Management System CRMS’ in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund UNFPA here Thursday.
Civil Registration Management System CRMS encompasses computerized registration of vital events i.e. birth, death, marriage and divorce. The system has been implemented at union council level by NADRA in collaboration with Local Government and Community Development Department, Punjab.
The CRMS system is operating through CRMS sites, established at Union councils, tehsil Municipal Administration, Chief Officer Units and Cantonment Boards.
All the 648 CRMS sites including, Union Councils, 11 Tehsil municipal Administrations, 11 Cantonment Boards are now fully automated with jurisdiction of Islamabad region.
The respective UCs Secretaries have been trained and software application has also been installed at all the operational CRMS sites. 45 CRMS supervisors are providing support and services for CRMS in RHO Islamabad.
However, NADRA provides data acquisition software application and technical assistance through designated CRMS Supervisors and Regional Management Teams. NADRA also provides/ validates/verifies the information provided by the applicants CNIC numbers and names.
The chief objectives of the seminar was to address difficulties and problems being faced by general public; orientation of all stakeholders at regional, national and international level with regard to registration of vital events; sharing ideas, exchanging of views and obtaining expert opinion to enhance registration; identification of gray areas.
The speakers included representative UNFPA Muqaddir Shah, Director Local Govt Rawalpindi Tahir Zia, Add: Secretary Local Govt AJK and DG CRMS Brig (R ) Tanzeemuddin who addressed the participants.
