QUETTA: We have cultural, economic, social and brotherly relations with Iran. Promotion of trade would improve economic situation across the borders.
This was stated by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Bach while speaking to Ambassador of Iran Ali Raza Haqiqian here Thursday.
He said there exist cultural, economic, social and blood relations between people living on either sides of Pak-Iran border. He said trade and immigration facilities at Gwadar, Panjgur, Mand would improve economic associaiton and mutual relations on both sides. He aid economic matters of people on both sides of border are interlinked.
Accepting invitation for visit of Iran extended by Iranian Ambassador Chief Minister said soon parliamentary delegation from Balochistan would visit Iran and review benefiting from Iranian development in agriculture, communication, trade and other sectors.
He also agreed for the appointment of focal person for reviewing further improving Pakistan and Iran relations, implementation of accords, review of possibility of trade and investment opportunities and benefitting from them.
DR Malik Balch said there is great resemblance in culture of Balochistan and Iran.
He said that seats can be reserved for Iranian students at Kech University. He aid we want to benefit from development in agriculture, communication and other sectors development of Iran. Balochistan delegation would soon visit Iran to review this.
He said Iran had assured of completion infrastructure in five districts of Balochistan during 90s but it could not be implemented. If this offer of the past is implemented and infrastructure in five border districts of Balochistan is completed, their gas and electricity needs are met then difficulties and problems of people in border districts would lessen remarkably.
Chief Minister said our region is hit by disputes and despite continuing mutual coordination we need to further make them effective.
Expressing his concern over rocket firing in Mashkel area he informed Iranian ambassador such incidents may create misunderstandings. He said there is great increase economic, social and other sectors development from Iranian electricity being provided to Mekran. He aid efforts were underway to early completion of accord on supply of electricity to Mekran from Iran.
