483 killed in encounters this year so far


KARACHI: Sindh police carried out 8928 target operations, 1512 search operations and killed 483 criminals and arrested 5397 others and recovered explosive material from their possession in different districts of Sindh including Karachi as per the National Action Plan since January, 2015 till July 8, 2015, said a report on Thursday presented in a meeting held at CPO Office Karachi.

At the meeting, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Hyder Jamali issued directives to police officials to continue target operations, search operations against criminals to ensure getting positive results as per the National Action Plan so as public could be benefited.

The meeting was told that 136 killed terrorists belonging to Al-Qaida and Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, while 45 were target killers, 16 kidnappers, 105 Lyari gangsters and 181 dacoits.

The report revealed that police detained 62 terrorists, 54 target killers, 10 kidnappers, 51 Lyari gagsters and 5220 dacoits and other criminals. It said police recovered 429 kilograms of explosive material, 14 LMG, 10 G-3 rifles, 11 bombs, 7 rocket launchers, 23 suicide jackets, 134 hand grenades, 228 SMG and Kalashnikov and 4948 pistols.

The meeting was told to ensure maintaining the law and order situation during the holy month of Ramazan.
