62% Pakistanis believe that any news that portrays a negative image of the country yet spreads greater awareness should be aired on media: Survey

ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 62% Pakistanis believe that any news that portrays a negative image of the country yet also spreads greater awareness among the masses should be aired on media.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, should the kind of news that spreads awareness among the masses yet also portrays the country in a negative light be aired on media or not?” In response to this question, 62% said that it should be aired while 37% said that it should not be aired and 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1755 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during January 25 – February 01, 2016. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
