Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 66% Pakistanis believe the government is right in releasing captives of Mehsud tribe; 31% disagree.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think that by releasing the captives of Mehsud tribe, the government did a good thing; this is a positive step towards peace while others said it is bad because it will increase terrorism.
Please tell me, what is your opinion on the government’s decision? Is it right or wrong?” Responding to this, 66% said government’s decision was correct compared to 31% who thought it was wrong. 3% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2538 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Apr 7, 2014 – Apr 14, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
