Islamabad: The local traders has called upon the CDA to issue notification of board tax @ Rs.60/per sq yds as was agreed in a meeting between the Director District Administration and the local business community to remove any confusion.
Khalid Mian, proposed President of ICT Chamber of Small Traders said that CDA had unilaterally made many times increase in the board tax rate & trade license fee along with introducing contractors system for collection of board tax and local traders launched a strong protest against such unjustified measures of CDA.
Consequently, under the instructions of Chairman and Member Admin CDA, Director Municipal Administration in a meeting with local traders had agreed to charge board tax @ Rs.60/per sq yds and restore previous system of trade license.
However, in violation of the agreement and without the consent of CDA, a contractor got published advertisement in the national press to collect board tax, which has created lot of confusion.
Khalid Mian said that contractor had no authority to publish such a misleading advertisement and added that the traders have decided to pay board tax @Rs.60/per sq yds as already agreed with CDA.
He appealed to the Chairman and Member Admin CDA to direct the concerned quarters for issuance of notification for charging board tax @ Rs.6-/per sq yds. He said traders will not pay board tax to the representatives of any contractor and added that CDA should deploy its own staff for its collection for which the traders will fully cooperate with the civic body.
