Islamabad: The World Mines Day was observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as elsewhere in the country. The day is observed on the appeal of United Nations to throw light on education, awareness and protection against landmines. In this connection, functions were held in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Mirpur.
The speakers addressing on the occasion said the Mines Day is observed to educate the people and create awareness among them about the dangers of the landmines and how to take safety measures to avoid them. It is also aimed at educating the people on how to help the persons injured in landmines and other explosives and to give.
