Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain has urged for further enhancing Pakistan- Argentina bilateral ties and emphasized the need for concerted efforts on both sides to explore new ways of expanding mutual cooperation particularly in the realms of economy and trade.
The President was speaking to Mr. Eduardo Antonio Zuain, Federal Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Argentina, who called on him at the Presidency on Friday.
Ambassador Rodolfo Martin Saravia, Ambassador of Argentina to Pakistan and Ambassador Celeste Koch, Foreign Ministry of Argentina were also present during the meeting.
Welcoming Mr. Eduardo Antonio on his visit to Pakistan, the President said that Pakistan and Argentina enjoy close and friendly ties however there exist a huge potential to further underpin bilateral trade and economic ties. He underscored the need for frequent bilateral exchanges at various levels to realize the true potential of trade existing between the two countries.
The President expressed hope that the visit of Foreign Secretary for the Third Round of Bilateral Political Consultations would be instrumental in identifying areas of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
The President expressed satisfaction at the close cooperation between Pakistan and Argentina at the UN and other international fora.
The President welcomed the re-launch of Argentine-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Honourable Congreso de la Nacion and said that Pakistan has also reconstituted the Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly.
Regular exchange of parliamentary delegations would help strengthen people to people contacts besides creating better understanding between the two countries, the President continued.
Mr. Eduardo Antonio Zuain, Federal Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Argentina thanked the President for meeting and said that 63 years relationship between the two countries is exemplary as both the countries have commonality of views on various international issues.
He said that Argentina was keen to further enhance and diversify its relations with Pakistan in various fields to the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
