ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided not to use biometrics system in the upcoming local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and the local government elections in the province will be held on conventional system.
This was decided at a meeting held here Monday at the of the Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan.
The meeting deliberated in details regarding introduction of biometric machines during the conduct of local government elections in the KP province.
The meeting discussed various difficulties and aspects of the biometric system including procurement, operationalization, technical, logistical and security of biometric data and decided not to use the system in upcoming the elections and the election will be held on conventional system in the KP province.
