ISLAMABAD: The government should levy sales tax on the profit of security companies not on their security of public which is in fact the mandate of the government, Said Mian Adrees, President FPCCI on Thursday.
Mian Mohammad Adrees, President FPCCI has stated that the security of the people and their assets is the mandate of the government but it cannot provide security at every level of the society.
The business community and common people normally hire the services of Security Companies for their security but they are under burden of heavy taxes. This was stated by Mian Adrees, President FPCCI in a meeting with the Major (r) Munir Ahmed Chairman, All Pakistan security Agencies Association (APSAA) who visited FPCCI along with his team to meet the office bearers of FPCCI.
The meeting was also attended by Rahim Janoo, Sr. Vice President, Shanawaz Ishtiaq, Mohammad Waseem Vohra, Daroo Khan, Vice Presidents and Secretary General of FPCCI M. A Lodhi.
Maj Munir Ahmed discussed various issues of the security companies interms of quality and standard security services and various taxes of the government on them due to which the security services become unaffordable to the public. He said the sales tax is charged on the invoice of the company which infact should be charged on the net income of the company.
The President FPCCI further said that after the incident of Army Public School Peshawar and continuous receipts of threats on a paper chit to the schools particularly in Punjab and KPK the people feel insecure of their children in the schools/colleges and other education centers.
These institutions ultimately hire the services of private security companies and the expenses of security has increased the education cost to the parents. He said that any tax on security companies will automatically pass on to the innocent people who are already under heavy burden of high prices.
Mian Adrees requested to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Ministers of all provinces and FBR and provincial revenue boards to immediately withdraw sales tax from the security companies. He draw the attention of all concerned authorities towards the fact that Security should not be taxed, however, the net income of the security companies may be chargeable to tax.
