ISLAMABAD: Computerized balloting or selection of 71, 684 (seventy-one thousand six hundred and eighty-four) intending pilgrims for the next Hajj under the Government scheme was held here on Thursday.
Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousaf was the chief guest on the occasion. In all, 1, 43003 (one hundred and forty-three thousand and three and sixty-eight (86) Pakistanis would perform Hajj under Government scheme and through private operators.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Religious Affairs said over 2, 64000 ( two hundred and sixty-four thousand) applications were received under the Government scheme. The applicants included over 1,16000 (one hundred and sixteen thousand) women and 1,24000 (one hundred and twenty-four thousand) men.
