Islamabad: Electioneering for the first ever local government elections in Islamabad came to close at twelve on Saturday (night).
The candidates are making last ditch efforts and carrying out door to door canvassing to convince the voters in their favor.
The capital territory has been divided into fifty Union Councils (UCs) and six hundred and forty polling stations have been set up at three hundred and twenty six buildings.
Of these, sixty-two buildings have been declared the most sensitive.
Over twenty four hundred candidates are vying for the seats of chairman, vice chairman and councillors.
The election commission meanwhile has completed all arrangements in connection with the polls to be held on Monday.
Meanwhile, the campaigning has reached peak for the third phase of local government elections in Punjab and Sindh to be held on fifth of next month.
Electioneering for the third phase of local bodies election will be held in six districts of the Karachi division.
Seven point one million voters will use their right to franchise in this phase.
Five thousand four hundred eighty three candidates are contesting elections on one thousand five hundred and twenty seats in all six districts in the city.
