ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has started construction work on 700 kilometer pipeline to import liquified natural gas (LNG) from China.
This was stated by Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while talking to Voice of America on Monday. He said the project will jointly be funded by Pakistan and China.
He said Gwadar port will be the central hub for China Pakistan Economic Corridor, which will allow Western China to gain access to warm waters. He said Chinese funds will benefit Pakistan to complete its Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project.
He said Pakistan has been trying to overcome its energy crisis by importing gas from Iran but sanctions on Iran had hampered the work on the project.
