ISLAMABAD: Head of Prime Minister’s Legal Reform Committee Ch Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar has summoned an important meeting today (Tuesday) here at the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The meeting will be attended by the eminent lawyers, judges, senior officers of the Law and Justice Ministry, Jurists and representatives of the civil society.
The PM’ s Legal Reforms Committee will give due consideration to proposed measures and amendments, for speedy, expeditious, inexpensive and efficient administration of justice, in the existing law.
The Committee will also consider the following aspects including- ensuring better and efficient case management in civil trials, including penalties for deliberately delaying proceedings. Dealing with the increasing backlog of cases in civil courts.
Introduction of a ‘law of costs’, establishment of Punchayats / Reconciliation committees, etc., for speedy dispute resolutions. Any other proposals and matters would also be included in the ‘Legal Reforms Package’.
