ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday reiterated that western alignment of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the foremost priority of government.
He said Balochistan will be major beneficiary of CPEC. He said all provinces and regions would also get benefit from the project. He said government’s sincerity and commitment to complete the western alignment is reflected by the speedy work currently underway at the site.
The Minister said construction of road along the western route is a challenging task due to terrain. He said there is no new six-lane motorway project under construction for CPEC. He said the CPEC plan is to improve and upgrade existing highways for fastest connectivity in the first phase.
He said construction of western alignment will bring a big change in the socio-economic conditions of far flung areas of the country. He said Gwadar will be connected to Khunjerab through multiple routes as its port will serve different markets and destinations.
