ISLAMABAD: Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said that the country has sufficient stock of petrol and there is no chance of any shortage in the near future.
He was briefing National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum, which met here under the chairmanship of Bilal Ahmad Virk. The Minister said the petrol crisis was resolved taking timely measures, and now the petrol supply in the market has been maintained more than the demand.
He said a single-member high level inquiry committee constituted by the Prime Minister is investigating shortage of petrol. He said the main contributing factors in petrol growth are exponential increase in two wheeler population, CNG non-availability and use in generators due to load-shedding.
