ISLAMABAD: The date for mobile SIMs verification has been extended till May 15. This was decided in a high level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said no SIM would be verified after the expiry of the last date. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said action would be taken against the concerned cellular company if an unverified SIM is used in terrorist activities.
The Minister said no compromise would be made on country’s security. He said we welcome foreign investment in the country, but protection of Pakistani citizens is our top priority.
The Minister was briefed that 20 million SIMs have so far been blocked and bio metric verification of over 70 million SIMs has been completed. The meeting also agreed to evolve a compressive strategy to monitor mobile SIMs.
