ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform met under the Chairmanship of Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail, MNA here in Parliament House on Monday to discuss the Rehabilitation/up-gradation of 400 Railway’s coaches, Feasibility study of construction on Bridge on River Indus to Link Kallur Kot with D.I Khan and up-gradation of Critical Care Facilities at PIMS, Islamabad etc.
The Committee expressed concern over the unnecessary delay in completion of Rehabilitation/Up-gradation of 400 Railway’s coaches which increased the cost of the project from 3434 million to 5200 million due to untimely release of funds, devaluation of Pak Rupees and load-shedding etc. it directed the Pakistan Railways to ensure the completion of the project within new given time frame in order to avoid further losses.
It directed that NHA may complete the feasibility report of construction on Bridge on River Indus to Link Kallur Kot with D.I Khan at the earliest so that the construction work of the project could be started without further delay.
The Committee expressed grave concern over the unnecessary delay in completion of Peshawar Northern Bypass project and constituted a four Members Sub-Committee headed by Mr. Iftikhar-ud-Din, MNA to inquire the reasons of delay of completion of the said project.
It expressed displeasure that recruitment of qualified/trained staff was eliminated from PC-I of PIMS for Up-gradation of Critical Care Facilities consequently the administration of PIMS was facing problem to make it operational due to shortage of manpower. It directed that Ministry of CA &DD may take up the issue with the Ministry of Finance for recruitment in PIMS to cope up with their requirements.
