Pakistan, India in contact for resumption of dialogue process: FO


Islamabad: Pakistan has taken additional security measures along the border with Afghanistan ahead of the second round of afghan presidential elections to be held on Saturday.

At her weekly media briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the measures include enhanced vigilance and security along the border, enhanced patrolling and close border crossing areas.

She said the Afghan presidential elections are a milestone in the democratic journey of Afghan people. She said Pakistan sincerely supports the cause of democracy and peaceful transition in Afghanistan.

Tasnim Aslam said Pakistan’s position on drone strikes is very clear and evident from different resolutions. She said the government is ascertaining the situation and facts about the latest drone attacks in North Waziristan.

When asked that Indian weapons were used in the Karachi attack, she said investigation is still continuing into the incident. She said we are not in a habit of hurling allegations without any proper investigation.

On Pak-India foreign secretary level talks, she said both the countries are in contact for the resumption of dialogue process.

On the kidnapping of the Chinese nations, Tasnim Aslam said the Punjab government has constituted two to three teams to investigate the matter and recover the kidnapped Chinese nationals.
