ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), in collaboration with the Italian government, is launching a new project for Olive cultivation in FATA (Federally Administrative Tribal Areas), Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir.
This was stated by Chairman PARC Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, while talking to media and scientists here on Wednesday. He said Olive cultivation can play an important role for country’s progress by saving millions of foreign exchange reserves.
He said the Council has prepared nine nurseries where thousands of certified plants would be available to farmers. He said five processing mills established in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are providing free processing to Olive growers. He said the council has also prepared Mango Hot Water Treatment Plant to protect mango from diseases.
