ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that Pakistan will continue to be in the forefront in all UN activities and debates.
He was talking to Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi here. The Prime Minister directed her to continue to ensure that Pakistan’s voice is based on peace, security and development issues.
He gave guidelines and advice to Dr. Lodhi on how to make Pakistan’s participation more meaningful. The United Nations will mark its 70th founding anniversary this year which gives special importance to this year’s session.
The Prime Minister would be addressing the UNGA session in which he will highlight Pakistan’s foreign policy and national priorities. He would also be holding bilateral meetings with several heads of state and government from friendly countries. Pakistan today is the largest troop contributing country to UN peacekeeping operations in the world.
