PSQCA directed to open its office near Wahga border

Islamabad: A review meeting regarding the signing of agreement between Pakistan standard & Quality control authority (PSQCA)and Inspection Council of India (EIC) took place at the Ministry for Science & Technology in the chair of Mr. Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister For S&T.

The Meeting was attended by Mr. Kamran Ali Qureshi, Secretary Ministry of S&T, Additional Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PSQCA, PNAC and senior officials.

Mr. Khalid Sadiqiue, Joint Technological Advisor of Ministry of S&T, briefed about the progress made by the Ministry of S&T and its subsidiary organizations i-e. PSQCA & PNAC regarding the implementation of Mutual Recognition Agreement(MRA) which was signed between Bureau of Indian Standards &PSQCA in September in 2012.

The Minister showed satisfaction on the progress made so far and directed the PSQCA to get their laboratories accredited from Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) on a war footing basis so that the results are acceptable to BIS and the full fruits of MRA might be harnessed.

He also directed that PSQCA must open its facilitating office near Wahga border in Lahore so that the traders community might get facilities of labs at their close proximity.
