ISLAMABAD: The earthquake-affected people are facing difficulties with the start of snowfall and rain, which have lowered the mercury in Malakand division. The downpour started in the lower parts of the Swat district while the upper parts received snowfall that lowered the temperature.
Tourist spots, including Kalam, Malam Jabba, Miandam, Osho, Gabral and Marghazar received a heavy snowfall. The affected people whose houses collapsed in the earthquake were facing serious problems.
The rain and snowfall, which started on Monday and still continued, added to the miseries of the earthquake-affected people who complained that the damage assessment survey was yet to be completed.
The children in the affected areas are prone to diseases with the start of severe cold in these mountainous areas. Several of the affected families have not received any assistance since the earthquake struck the northern region on October 26. The rain and snowfall was also hampering relief activities in Shangla district.
The upper parts of Shangla district, including Olandar, Spin Ghar, Shangla Top, Kafar Banda received heavy snowfall. The affected people who have been provided tents would face severe problems due to the sudden dip in temperature. The rain and snowfall is continued in the quake hit areas.
