ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Tuesday that proportional increase is granted by the government each year in the budget of departments responsible for promotion of culture, literature and arts.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid told the House during question hour that in future more funds will be allocated for this purpose.
Replying to a question, Pervaiz Rashid said PEMRA monitors and initiates legal action against the violation of Code of Conduct for advertisement by private TV channels whenever found involved in violations in this regard.
He said Pakistan Television Corporation since its inception has been telecasting programmes and advertisements in the light of Islamic injunctions and for all age and gender groups. Therefore, he said there is no chance of any adverse impact on children by any of PTV programme and advertisement.
To a question, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch told the House that there is a proposal to establish ten new regional passport offices in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He said 16 regional passport offices are already working in the province.
To a question, the minister said that any organization proscribed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 is prohibited from all activities including charity work under a different name.
He said Jamatu Dawah has been on observation orders under the Anti-Terrorism Act since November, 2003. He said presently Jamatu Dawah is engaged in charity and social work, operating hospitals, clinics, schools, ambulance service and religious institutions.
Responding to a call attention notice moved by Sitara Ayaz, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House that the government has formed a committee to look into the matters of regularization of services of 1237 teachers of federal government Educational Institutions, Cant Garrison particularly FG Model Primary School Lalazar Rawalpindi Cantonment. He said Rs 400 million are required for this purpose.
