ISLAMABAD: Department of Urdu, Female Campus, International Islamic University, Islamabad, organized Iqbal Day ceremony in connection with Iqbal Day celebrations.
The ceremony was witnessed the competitions of recitation of Iqbal’s poetry and singing of Kalam-e-Iqbal, in which students from 25 departments took part in the competition. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Driaweesh, President IIUI graced the ceremony while Dr. Samina Malik, Director Female Campus, Dr. Najeeba Arif, Student Advisor Female IIUI, faculty members and large number of students were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said, Iqbal was a great thinker and philosopher of Muslims who influenced not only Muslims of sub-continent but Muslims of world at large. He was of the view that Iqbal was a genius, whose thinking and concepts were being explored around the world and renowned universities of the world have established Iqbal Centre in the universities.
“Iqbal’s works particularly focuses young mind of the Muslims and inspires youth through revolutionary thoughts and concepts”. President IIUI added. Dr. Al-Draiweesh said Iqbal termed Muslim youth Shaheen and sprinkled spiritual light, so they may determine their destination to revive the lost position in the world. He said that today institutions of the world are translating Iqbal’s message, thoughts and concepts for their communities in multi languages.
Dr. Samina Malik and Dr. Najeeba Arif also addressed the student on the occasion.
