ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called on the visiting President of Tajikistan Mr. Emom Ali Rahmon here on Thursday and discussed the matters pertaining to mutual interest, parliamentary and economic cooperation.
President of Tajikistan said that his government desires to have congenial relations with Pakistan and Tajik legislature also keens to further strengthen its ties with Parliament of Pakistan.
He stressed a need for regular interaction between Parliamentarians of both brotherly countries and said that parliamentary engagement could play a pivotal role to bring both nations more closer.
He said that Tajik and Pakistani business communities were in regular contact and has inked various agreements for mutual cooperation and interest. He said that a strong and stable Pakistan was imperative for the peace in the region.
He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and extremism in the country and congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his re-election as Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Tajikistan and Pakistan were intertwined in bonds of religion, culture and history, and Pakistan values high its relations with Tajikistan. He said that both countries hold similar positions regarding regional and global issues.
He said that Pakistan strongly desires to enhance bilateral relation through strengthening economic and parliamentary ties with its brotherly country. He extended his invitation to his Tajik counterpart to visit Pakistan with his Parliamentary delegation.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that both countries have huge economic potential which needs to be exploited for mutual benefit. He said that regular interaction between the political hierarchy, parliamentarians and trading communities of brotherly country would be helpful in exploring new avenues of cooperation.
