Islamabad: MoU signing ceremony between Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) was held on Wednesday at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.
Federal Minister for IPC Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research were the chief guests.
Director General Pakistan Sports Board Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera in his welcoming address told the objectives of the MoU. He expressed that this is the dynamic approach and vision of Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada Federal Minister IPC that this MoU has been materialized.
He informed that this MoU his singed to promote fruit culture in Islamabad in special and Pakistan in general. It will also help to provide healthy environment for the athletes attending national training camps and participants of sports events held in Pakistan Sports Complex.
Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada Federal Minister of IPC speaking in the occasion expressed that benefits of research programmes has not been tickle down to common man.
I wish that research programmes should be used for progress at grass root level. It is my desired sports complex area should be made as green complex and to create conducive atmosphere for the players and people coming here. In my view this could be done only with the help of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council.
I am also in contact with Chinese Government for assistance in improving the venue. I am thankful to Mr. Sikandar Hayyat Bosan Federal Minister National Food Security and Research for his co-operation in developing the area. Mr. Sikandar Hayyat Bosan Federal Minister National Food Security and Research assured his full co-operation to complete the task on top priority.
After that Director General Pakistan Sports Board Dr. M. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera and Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan Director General National Agriculture Research Council singed the MoU for a period of ten years.
According to MoU, Pakistan Agriculture Research Council will help to develop fruit based landscape in the area, provision of mother plants of different fruit trees including Olive, to help in developing Bio-remediation sites on streams passing through the area, provision of five acres different plants on complementary basis and to provide technical assistance to manage planted fruit trees, where as Pakistan Sports Board will provide land for plantation of Olive and other fruit trees, provide funds for developing Bio-remediation sites in the area and for large scale plantation of fruit trees.
The employees of BPS-17 and above of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council will be provided membership for sports facilities on complementary basis.
