Islamabad: Trade activities at Islamabad main wholesale market has resumed on Friday after one-day mourning. Supply of vegetables and fruits has resumed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Secretary General of Traders Union Tahir Ayub said that another meeting would be held with the district administration to discuss market’s security. Traders are fully cooperating with police in this regard, he said.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Wednesday’s blast has reached 25 as another person succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The blast struck at around 8:00 am at the wholesale market near the capital’s twin city Rawalpindi, when hundreds of grocers and sellers gathered to trade.
The federal government has announced a compensation of Rs. 500,000 to the heirs of each dead and Rs75,000 to each of the injured in the incident. Police have so far recorded statements of more than 70 people including the injured, whereas several arrests were made in connection with the incident.
