Islamabad: The United States funded a report designed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Pakistan’s civil society organizations. The study will help enable members of Pakistan’s civil society organizations be more effective advocates in Pakistan’s development.
“The focus of this program is to strengthen local institutions and organizations to help achieve sustainable development.
The United States, through its Agency for International Development (USAID), is assisting Pakistani community service organizations to build their capacity,” said USAID Acting Mission Director Nancy Estes while addressing community leaders. She added that, “The work being done by these organizations are critical to help ensure Pakistan’s sustainable development to benefit all Pakistanis.”
According to the report, more than half of the organizations are currently operating without written policies or procedures. But research funded by USAID and completed by the Assessment and Strengthening Program-Associates in Development will help civil society organizations improve their financial and managerial efficiency.
