ISLAMABAD: Most parts of the country are in the grip of severe cold and dry weather with no change is expected within next 24-hours, Met office said on Monday.
However, cloudy weather conditions with chances of light rain and snowfall over the hills are likely at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Dense foggy conditions would continue in plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during morning and night hours. There is a fog with different categories of intensity at Motorway M-2 from Kot Momin to Lahore.
According to Motorway Police spokesman, at some points of the Motor Way on Monday morning the visibility was zero, while at other points it was in between 20 to 30meters but the traffic was plying.
There was also fog on G.T. Road from Kharian to Lahore and the visibility was 20 to 30 meters and the traffic was on.
Temperature of some major cities recorded on Monday morning was: Islamabad four degree centigrade, Peshawar seven , Lahore six, Karachi fifteen, Quetta and Murree one, Muzaffarabad nine and Gilgit minus one degree centigrade.
According to synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is also prevailing over northern parts of the country and expected to persist during next 24-36 hours.
