Islamabad: The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus strongly condemned the stoning to death of a 25-year-old pregnant woman Farzana Parveen by her family on 27th May 2014 outside the Lahore High Court for marrying the man of her choice.
The Caucus urges punishment for the perpetrators and considers that this act should be treated as a heinous and culpable crime.
The Caucus took notice of the fact that the law enforcement agencies, present at the scene, failed to protect the victim. We demand that the law enforcement agencies should be held responsible for criminal negligence and should be punished accordingly.
The Caucus calls for strict action against the murderers. It calls upon the Government to ensure that the lives and integrity of the people of Pakistan, especially women are duly protected. The Caucus pledges to stand up for the protection of women’s rights.
