Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 55% Pakistanis believe ex-President Musharraf should be jailed and tried for his crimes; 44% say he should be released and exiled.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Some people are of the opinion that ex-President Musharraf should be released and exiled whereas others think that he should be jailed and tried for his crimes.
What is your opinion?” Responding to this, 44% said he should be released and exiled from the country whereas 55% said he should be jailed and tried for his crimes. 1% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2619 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Feb 10, 2014 – Feb 17, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
