Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that Japan is a valuable development partner of Pakistan and Japan’s ongoing assistance in various social, educational and health projects are of high value. He said this while meeting Mr. Hiroshi INOMATA, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, who called on the Prime Minister here in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Prime Minister said that the government is focused on creating sustained economic growth that would result in overall well being and progress of the people of Pakistan and in this endeavour, support from friends like Japan is highly appreciated.
He further said that “My Government looks forward to greater level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly, in areas of trade, investment, development, energy and capacity building”.
While referring to his meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Shinzo Abe on the margins of UNGA Session in New York last year, the Prime Minster said that “my meeting was very helpful in deepening understanding between the leadership of the two countries”.
He further said that Pakistan looks forward to the visit of Japanese Prime Minister, which will complement efforts on both sides to further diversify and expand bilateral relations.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif further said that Pakistan appreciates Japan’s interest in Karachi Circular Railway project and Underground Metro Systems in Karachi and Lahore. Views were also exchanged on educational exchange of students and energy projects in Pakistan. Prime Minister said that “my government has initiated investor friendly policies for foreign investors and we encourage Japanese investors to come forward and invest in Pakistan”.
Japanese Ambassador re-iterated the commitment of the Government of Japan to further strengthening ties between the two governments and its people.
