ISLAMABAD:Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood announced on Monday that all educational institutes and tuition centers
across the country would be closed from 26 November to 24 December 2020 due to second wave of rising coronavirus case, however, home learning could begin from Nov 26.
The decision was taken at the National Command and Operation Centre meeting. He said winter vacations would be made from 25 December and 10 January 2021 while schools would resume classes after review of the situation in the first week of January. The education institutes to be closed include schools, colleges, universities, and tuition centres. Higher education universities will commence online learning.
The exams that were to be held in December have been postponed and the same will now be taken when classes will resume in January. Entry exams such as MDCAT will, however, be held as per schedule. The minister stated that the new educational year will begin in August 2021. Education ministers of all provinces had prepared their recommendations that were presented in the meeting.
