Islamabad: There is a great potential of trade between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) in agriculture sector particularly in areas of poultry and livestock”, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research (MNFSR) said this while in a meeting with Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, Ambassador of UAE to Pakistan, when the latter called on him .
Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, Ambassador of UAE , said that Pakistan has a great scope in increasing export of agricultural products to UAE because of its geographical proximity with his country.
Both dignitaries also discussed the possibility of UAE lifting ban on import of poultry and poultry products from Pakistan. It is to be noted that UAE had imposed ban on the said products from Pakistan on account of eruption of Bird Flu disease in Pakistan.
During the course of meeting, Seerat Asghar, Secretary, MNFSR apprised the Ambassador of a recent visit by a four-member technical delegation from Saudi Arabia wherein the latter reposed confidence in phytosanitary measures undertaken by Pakistan for ensuring export of safe quality food. The said delegation also expressed satisfaction over the quality of poultry and livestock infrastructure in Pakistan.
Mr. Asghar hoped that UAE would soon restore import of poultry products from Pakistan since the latter has been declared free from Bird Flu disease.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that UAE will soon send a team of experts to Pakistan to inspect its poultry infrastructure and system in order to look into the possibility of lifting ban on import of poultry products from Pakistan. Both sides also agreed that there was a need to further strengthen bilateral trade between two brotherly countries.
