Japanese Embassy gives high preference to NUML: Isomura

Islamabad: Toshikazu Isomura, Japanese Public Affairs Counsellor along with Mr Tomonari Tanabe, Japanese Language Trainer from Japan Foundation visited National University of Modern Languages NUML, Islamabad, and met Director General DG NUML Brig Azam Jamal in his office.

Mr Isomura told the DG that Japanese Embassy gives high preference to the NUML in Pakistan as it is a unique institution for Japanese language learning and promotion of culture. Therefore, a special Japanese Language Teacher from Japanese Foundation has been arranged for conducting a 3day Japanese Languages Teacher Training workshop for the faculty members started on Wednesday, December 5th at NUML.

DG Brig Azam Jamal told the Japanese Public Affairs Counsellor that “there is an increasing demand for learning Japanese language and cope with this demand NUML needed more trained Japanese teachers, facilities and support.

The said workshop and Japanese Embassy continuous interaction with Japanese
Department of NUML will be of great help. Moreover, DG told Mr Isomura that Pakistani people have a very special place for Japanese people for reasons that they have impression that Japanese people are very patriotic, hardworking, intelligent and they have a spirit to do marvels. Secondly, the way Japan has helped Pakistan in the hours of need and provided with relief goods are all worth mentioning, he added. While talking to Mr Tomonari Tanabe, Japanese Language Trainer, DG told that Pakistani people are as good, civilized, cultured and well behaved as any other nation of the world.

DG also briefed the visiting guests about the University and told them NUML is a unique university in a sense that it not only promotes the languages of the world and provide opportunities to people of different nations to interact with each other but also promotes the selective culture of countries.

The meeting was also attended by Dr Anwer Mahmood, Head of Japanese Department and other officials of the university. Later, Toshikazu Isomura, Japanese Public Affairs Counsellor and Mr Tomonari Tanabe were taken to Japanese Department where they have interaction with Japanese Faculty members and witnessed the arrangements for the workshop.
