ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal on Thursday said that efforts are on to accelerate exploration and production activities in oil and gas sector across the country.
Addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day 22nd Annual Technical Conference here, he said the country needed an effective strategy to attain self-sufficiency in the energy sector.
He said the country’s gas deposits are depleting as 50 percent natural gas is being consumed for power generation, besides its major share is used to meet domestic fuel needs.
The conference is jointly organized by Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geo-scientific and Society of Petroleum Engineers. Jam Kamal said Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources is taking measures to streamline exploration and production matters pertaining to provinces especially in the post 18th amendment scenario.
