Islamabad: Rain is lashing different parts of the country including Upper Punjab‚ Khyber Pakhtunkhawa‚ Gilgit Baltistan‚ Kashmir and Malakand Division. A spokesperson of Met Office said that Mangla has received the highest rainfall of 80 millimeter‚ Kotli 66‚ Rawalpindi 61 and Islamabad 59 mm.
The rain-spell is likely to persist during the next twenty four hours. Heavy snowfall has also been recorded in Murree‚ Kalaam‚ Astore and Parachinar. Islamabad-Murree dual carriageway has been closed for traffic because of heavy snowfall from Hakas camp to Lower Topa. Traffic has been diverted to old Murree road from Phulgran Toll plaza.
In Hazara Division‚ several feet of snowfall has been recorded in Gallyat of district Abbottabad. Frontier Highway Authority that snow sweeping machines have been deployed at different places of Abbottabad-Murree Road to remove snow and land sliding debris. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir‚ Muzaffarabad-Srinagr Road and roads leading to Neelum and Leepa valleys have been blocked due to landslides and heavy snowfall at various places.
