KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is mulling over to move court against newly introduced Local Government (LG) Ordinance. This was stated by JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman in a statement issued here on Sunday. Expressing his deep concerns over the introduction of new LG Ordinance, Naeem said: “The amendments which have been made in the LG Ordinance are not understandable for the constitutional and legal experts, political parties and the masses”, he added. In a statement, Naeem said that the JI wants transferring of power to the grass root level and willing to resolve the issues of the masses.
“The Sindh government instead of resolving the issues including rectification of voters’ list and transparent delimitation, is involve in making illogical amendments in LG Ordinance”, he asserted. He further alleged that the provincial government was not interested in resolving the public grievances.
Naeem further said that the JI has a major mandate in the city, as the people have elected the JI leadership for City District Government for three times in the past. “We want resolution of the public grievances through holding of Local Bodies (LB) elections in transparent way and the JI leadership is in contact with its legal and constitutional experts in this regard”, Hafiz Naeem added.
