JI protests against the death sentence of Abdul Qadir Molla

Peshawar: Jamat-e-Islami Khyber Pukhtunkhwa on Friday held Ghaibana Namaz Janaza (funeral prayers) for the JI Bangladesh Leader Abdul Qadir who was hanged to death the other day. Bangladesh Supreme Court sentenced Abdul Qadir Molla for death for “massacres committed during the bloody 1971 war which resulted in creation of Bangladesh”.

JI provincial chief Professor Mohammad Ibrahim Khan led the funeral prayer held at Markaz-e-Islami which was participated by Senior Minister Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Sirajul Haq, JI General Secretary for Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and JI workers in large number. After funeral prayers the workers marched on GT road to protest against the sentence. They said that Abdul Qadir was hero for Pakistan and he had been given death punishment for his support to Pakistan Army and opposing division of Pakistan.

They also condemned the Pakistani government for showing no reaction against the punishment of Abdul Qadir Molla and raised slogans against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The workers were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans to condemn the hanging of Abdul Qadir Molla who according to them did nothing wrong. JI leader Professor Ibrahim said that Abdul Qadir Molla is a martyr and he will be remembered forever. He said that he was given punishment by Bangladeshi government to appease India. He criticized the Pakistani government for showing no reaction to the death sentence of Abdul Qadir Molla.
