KARACHI: Some 100 housing projects would be launched in Karachi within next four months as a couple of foreign companies have expressed their intention to invest around $100 million in the housing and construction sector in the city.
This was disclosed by Chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) Mohsin Sheikhani in a media briefing at a local hotel Wednesday. He announced that ABAD is going to organize an international expo at Karachi Expo Centre from August 12-14 this year.
‘A number of mega projects will be rolled out during this expo as around 50 foreign companies are expected to participate. A couple of foreign companies have already expressed their intention to invest around $100 million in the housing and construction sector in Karachi which will culminate in the launching of some 100 housing projects within next four months in the city,’ added Sheikhani.
”Responding to a question of media The ABAD Chairman said “the blueprint of the low-cost housing scheme is waiting Prime Minister’s approval and likely to be launched in a couple of months, and ABAD is fully support this initiative of the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and offer its platform to roll out this project in the interest of the common people of the country.”
The Project Head-ABAD Expo and Sothern Region Chairman ABAD, Haris Mithani while highlighting the salient features of the event said the event will provide an enabling environment to the discerning target audiences to promote Business to Business and Business to Customers contacts. ‘Local builders and companies representing construction and allied material from all across Pakistan have been invited to showcase their projects, products and services in this grand show to highlight the true potential of Pakistan in the world of building and construction industry,’ added Mithani.
He further explained that this 3-day exhibition will feature display of projects from builders, new project launches, information stalls from public sector bodies on related industry, and an array of exhibits from machinery, tools, equipments and allied products. While sharing the macro-economic side of the event, Senior Vice Chairman ABAD Salim Patel told that this event will help in identifying how Pakistan can capitalize on its vast investment potential in building and construction industry — specially designed to provide a facilitating environment to promote B2B trade.
‘The ABAD Expo will host a busy schedule of seminar and interactive sessions designed to educate delegates and visitors about useful topics by some of the industry leaders and experts in their fields. It will highlight the sector’s capability to meet challenges of making low cost housing schemes, generating wide spread employment opportunity, and enhancing demand for the indigenously produce construction material,’ added Patel.
Meanwhile, the event manager of the Expo Zohair Naseer said the event promises to be the most dynamic rendezvous of builders, remodelers, sales and marketing professionals, architects and other building industry professionals.
It is to be noted that ABAD Int’l Expo will showcase projects from local and foreign builders, building materials like steel, paint, flooring, lighting, heating/cooling, doors and windows, energy efficiency and solar products, roofing, fencing, lifts and gates, pools/spas, sustainability solutions, furnishing and more.
Moreover, international seminars will be held on the first two days of the event. The topics include: role of construction industry in national economy; emerging trends in mortgage finance; low cost housing; urban planning; and the art of modern architecture.?
