KARACHI: “On the directive of Sindh Minister for Information & Local Bodies and Chairman Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), free water tanker service is going on in Orangi Town, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Metroville and Baldia Town; however, the number of tankers has been increased to 1000 a day,” said Managing Director KWSB Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi on Saturday.
He said this while talking to the residents of those areas on an emergency visit to review supply of water through tankers.
The residents thanked KWSB and said that they were saved from buying water due to the free water tanker service.
The MD KWSB directed to lay water lines in the areas where no water supply system existed and water could not be supplied through Hub Dam. Free tanker service would continue until alternative arrangements were made.
He directed water hydrants in-charges to double the number of water tankers in Orangi and try to provide water at the nearest places of their houses. He said water should also be provided through pumping stations.
