Karachi: Associate Prof of Pulmonary, Institute of Chest Diseases at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Prof Nisar Ahmed Rao said on Monday that 10 percent children and five percent adult are suffering from asthma disease in Pakistan.
Talking the media men in connection of World Asthma Day would be observed on 6 May 2014 worldwide; Dr Nisar Rao said strongest risk factors for developing asthma are indoor allergies such as house dust, carpets, pollution, home based pets like cats & dogs and other respiratory infections.
He said asthma patients must avoid such things that can develop disease and consult with specialist doctor. He said use of inhaler is cost-effective and easy way of treatment for asthma suffering people. He said genetic and environmental factors are most common causes of disease prevalence in worldwide.
He stressed the need of early diagnose and treatment of disease for prompt cure of asthma, otherwise people suffering from disease might face severe complications.
He said according the survey conducted few years ago in Pakistan showed that ten percent children and five percent are adults are suffering from asthma disease. He said asthma could be controlled with proper medication on time and uses of inhalers are the best form of treatment for asthma.
