150 govt schools in Karachi without boundary walls, confesses Khuhro


KARACHI: In view of Army Public School Peshawar carnage, Senior Education Minister Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Monday that police patrolling would be carried out from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm along routes surrounding schools in Karachi, while it is being proposed to ban use of mobile phones within school premises.

Talking after media after a meeting to review security arrangements of educational institutes of Sindh, he said people with negative thinking have held hostage the whole country.

He said it was the responsibility of government to provide security to people, adding in this regard education department has sought support the law enforcement agencies to provide proper security to schoolchildren. He said Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo has assured police patrolling from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM for the security of schoolchildren.

He said they had instructed the school administrations to raise their boundary walls. He said most the schools in Karachi are established in crowded areas and there remain crowed outside the schools which is a security threat.

He said there are 150 schools in Karachi which has no boundary walls, for which he had instructed to construct their boundary walls immediately.

In meeting Additional (IGP) Karachi Ghulam qadir Thebo and secretary Education Fazullullah Pechooho were present.

Khuhro said they had instructed for taking better security measures for schools vans, keeping records of visitors, erect boundary walls, use separate entrance and exit gates, fix C.C TV cameras if they may manage.

Replying a question, He said on report of demolishing a school building in Shah Faisal Town area police have registered an FIR against two nominees, Mukhtiar Shah and Ghulam Yaseen.
